A $10K Deadline for L.A. Theater Artists

For theater artists on the search for grants, check out the Center Theatre Group’s Richard E. Sherwood Award, aimed at emerging creators based in Los Angeles.

“The goal of the Sherwood Award is to cultivate emerging local artists and invite them to engage in a professional relationship with CTG,” according to a statement from the group. “Applicants must be dedicated to improving the future of their respective artistic fields, demonstrate leadership qualities, and push existing boundaries. Artists are not limited by title, role or genre but must have a relationship to the art of performance.”

The deadline to apply for the $10,000 award is June 15 and CTG will be hosting two application orientation sessions at the Music Center Annex on June 6 and June 10. Two runner-ups will receive $2,000 each to honor their work.

The 2016 recipient will be announced at the L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Awards.

Past winners include Sean Cawelti (Rogue Artists Ensemble), Lars Jan (Early Morning Opera), Miranda Wright (L.A. Performance Practice), and others.

To RSVP for the orientations, email Sherwood@CenterTheatreGroup.org.
