In today’s casting roundup, play a major role in a feature film about a young woman who attempts to bring change in her community. Plus, an indie short needs diverse young actors, and a short film is casting its lead role.

“QUEEN MAKEDA”
Join the cast of “Queen Makeda,” a feature film about a young woman who attempts to bring change to her community on her own. A Black female actor, aged 10–13, is wanted to play young Makeda, preparing for her elementary school graduation. There are also roles for children, aged 4–13, in background roles and several supporting roles for adult talent, aged 24–65. Rehearsals will take place in early to mid-March and the film will shoot on March 22, 24, 29, and 31 in Jersey City and Paterson, New Jersey, and Brooklyn and Queens, New York. “THE LAUNDROMAT”
“The Laundromat,” an independent short narrative film “about diversity, acceptance, and dialogue among people coming from different religious and cultural backgrounds” is seeking talent of many backgrounds. A young Middle Eastern actor and a young Latinx actor, both aged 5–8, are wanted to play the roles of Aslam and Juanito, respectively. They are two friends who play together while their moms do their laundry. There are also two roles for female actors, aged 26–50, to play their mothers, Afrah and Carmelo. The film will shoot on Feb. 28 in NYC. Pay is $125. Apply here!

“BELLA”
Casting is currently underway for “Bella,” a short film about a child whose parents have been deported. A young actor, aged 7–10, is wanted to play the lead role of B, a first-generation immigrant in the United States. There is also a role for a female actor, aged 25–61, as B’s aunt. Filming will take place on March 23 and 24 in Washington, D.C. Pay is $150 per day. Apply here!
