It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas—in today’s Backstage kids casting notices, anyway. A nonunion touring production of “A Christmas Story, The Musical” is currently casting one young actor for a supporting role.
A male actor aged 9–11 is sought to portray Randy, who is “funny in the sense that he is awkward and off-beat; must be physically comfortable onstage and have a lot of strong concentration.”
The musical, adapted by writing duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, is based upon the classic holiday film and depicts Ralphie, who dreams of receiving a BB gun for Christmas. Rehearsals for the production will begin Oct. 1, and the show is scheduled to run through Dec. 31.
