Mia Christinis booked one role with Backstage that ultimately turned out to be five. In “The List,” Christinis plays five characters based on real women’s stories.

The role was derived from honesty.
“The breakdown was intriguing as it’s a photography project-turned-theater-piece. I was extremely interested in the fact that the women’s stories throughout the piece are all fact-based and these were real encounters that happened. As an actor, this play allows me to delve into something very raw and honest.”

Knowing your type will lead to more roles.
“Know your type and casting to a T, so once you start to look through audition notices, the roles are suitable for you, which makes it so much easier on yourself.”

Backstage can be used on the go.
“I try to use Backstage on a daily basis. It’s a fantastic way for working actors to submit for work, especially now that they have the app for phones. I submit for things on my way to rehearsals or on the way home!”

Christinis committed to Backstage before graduation.
“I have been using Backstage for a little over a year. I signed up for the membership during my training at drama school so I could start to see what sort of jobs were out there before I graduated.”

Know your type of people, too.
“Having recently graduated from drama school this year, I think my biggest advice for finding success in the acting market is knowing your business [and asking yourself] who the people you want to work with are. What are they currently working on? Who is exactly my casting type in the current TV shows and films?”
