We sat down with Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern, the dynamic stars of Apple TV’s hit period comedy-drama “Palm Royale,” for an inside look at the show’s highly anticipated second season (now airing every Wednesday until Jan. 14). Creator and showrunner Abe Sylvia adapted the series from Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel, “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie,” with Dern’s Jaywalker Pictures serving as one of the primary producers.

From the meticulous late-’60s production design to the retro-glam costumes, Wiig and Dern dive into their favorite moments of “Palm Royale” while offering key acting advice. They reveal how they brought emotional depth to their characters, with Wiig, who shines as the ambitious lead Maxine Simmons, sharing how her comedic roots on “Saturday Night Live” provided the foundation of Maxine’s unique blend of humor, hustle, and heart. The pair also dove into their unforgettable experiences working alongside the legendary Carol Burnett, as well as their mutual love for chicken pot pie, which served as the secret ingredient to their immediate chemistry.
