L.A. Now Casting ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and 3 Other Projects

Today’s top casting notices coming out of Los Angeles include an iconic musical happening out of Glendale, California, as well as starring roles in a student film set to shoot in L.A. Plus, the upcoming play “Sticky Fingers” features several major roles for women, and lastly, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is seeking talented performers with a strong background in stunt work for their summer production, “All For One.” Find your next audition here!

“THE WIZARD OF OZ”
The role of the iconic Dorothy and all the supporting players in this legendary tale are being cast out of Glendale, California, April 18 and 20. The production runs July 1–Aug. 20 at the Glendale Theatre Center. These are paid roles.

“COP TO IT!”
Director Jason Luna is casting the student film “Cop To It!” for the New York Film Academy. “Cop To It!” is a genre parody about a tough police detective in anger management who must deal with the reappearance of his ex-partner and nemesis. Casting seeks the lead role of Barry Boome with four additional supporting roles for three females and one male. Additionally, day players and extras are being sought to portray newscasters and reporters. The film pays $100 per day, including the rehearsal and table read. Meals are provided, and a copy of the film will be made available to talent. Rehearsal dates are yet to be determined, but the film shoots July 7–8 and July 11–13 in L.A. A table read will be scheduled approximately two weeks before filming.

“STICKY FINGERS”
Fiona Lakeland and Terry Anne Holzman are casting the play “Sticky Fingers” for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, which follows nine women of different generations as they share true stories about stealing from major retail stores. Stories are both humorous and heartbreaking in tone. Casting seeks one female lead to portray a security guard. There are seven supporting roles open to portray the shoplifters. A small stipend will be given to each actor for each performance (the amount is to be determined). Production plans to apply for an Equity contract, if necessary. The play rehearses April–May in Culver City, California and will be performed on various dates throughout June at the Complex in Hollywood.

“ALL FOR ONE”
Busch Gardens Williamsburg seeks performers with a strong background in stunts and theatrical combat for this summer’s production of “All For One” based on “The Three Musketeers.” Additional desired skills include swordplay, parkour, gymnastics, aerial skills, and tumbling. Stunt training and experience with ratchet pulls, high falls, and rappelling is helpful. Casting seeks five males and two females for roles. Furthermore, males are sought for the high fall ensemble, and females for the chandelier swing ensemble. Additional actors are needed for the ensemble. Auditions will be held April 7 in Orlando, Florida; April 9 in Tallahassee, Florida; and April 22–23 in L.A. The production offers a competitive salary with housing provided. Rehearsals begin June 3. The show runs July 1–Sept. 5 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
