The Canadian production company Livent, Inc. has acquired the worldwide rights to all of Bob Fosse's choreography and plans to create a "new" musical based on the late choreographer-director's work.
To achieve this goal, Livent has enlisted the talents of Chet Walker, dance captain on Fosse's "Dancin' " and the 1986 revival of "Sweet Charity"; and Gwen Verdon, Fosse's one-time wife and more-frequent star. The two are currently ensconced in a four-week workshop at York University in Toronto, and could not be reached for comment.
The nature of the new Fosse project is unclear, but it will most likely resemble the loose revue structure of "Dancin'." The workshop will feature Fosse-choreographed numbers from "The Pajama Game," "Chicago," and "Sweet Charity," as well as the choreographer's early television work on the "Ed Sullivan Show'' and several Bob Hope specials.
