“Being the Ricardos”
They’re ho-ome! Filming has begun for the upcoming Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz biopic “Being the Ricardos,” and the first set photos emerged this week of Lucy portrayer Nicole Kidman on break filming in Long Beach, as well as at The Ebell of Los Angeles. Social media was ablaze on Thursday after the set photo emerged, leading to a debate on whether Kidman resembles the famous comedian she is playing. (She doesn’t.) Earlier in the week, other photos of Kidman and co-star and Arnaz portrayer Javier Bardem emerged. The film, which will be written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, follows the events that transpired during one week of shooting the classic sitcom “I Love Lucy.” The film started production earlier this month, according to a photo Kidman shared on her Instagram. Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. serve as producers and executive producers, giving their stamp of approval. In addition to Kidman and Bardem, the film will star Alia Shawkat, J.K. Simmons, Tony Hale, Linda Lavin, and more. Sorkin has worked with Francine Maisler on both of his feature directorial outings, so expect the casting director to return for the project.
