Your favorite actors all have that one gig that really was “where it all began,” and that includes Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin. Patinkin is known for creating some of the most iconic roles in musical theater such as the eponymous one in “Sunday in the Park With George.” But long before that, he was known for a role that was, arguably, as profound: the Teen Angel in a 7-Up commercial.

Reminiscing on his time in a diner, where he’d drink cola with his pals before his untimely death, Patinkin—dressed in his ’50s best—commits to the revelatory love he has for the almighty beverage, 7-Up.

Patinkin has come a long way in the years since, having most recently received four Emmy nominations for his work on “Homeland.” He’s also remained a regular of the stage, but with theater and film production on hold, there’s no saying when we’ll next get our Patinkin fix. Luckily, we can just rewatch this commercial on repeat until then. See it for yourself below.
