Hey, New York actors! Stay in the loop and be sure to check back every week for projects currently in production in the place you call home. Here’s the 411 on what’s filming big and small in your region.
“I Know This Much Is True”
Residents of Upstate New York have found themselves in the middle of a television set as the HBO miniseries “I Know This Much Is True” has continued filming. Production on the series has started over the past couple weeks, and star Mark Ruffalo has been popping up on sets around the Hudson Valley, including in Wappingers Falls where a makeshift Blockbuster Video has being erected.
The series, based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Wally Lamb follows the lives of two identical twin brothers, both of whom are played by Ruffalo. One suffers from schizophrenia “in a story of betrayal, sacrifice, and forgiveness.” Written for the screen by Gina Prince-Bythewood (“Shots Fired”), it also stars Kathryn Hahn, Melissa Leo, and Rosie O’Donnell. This week, production has been taking place in the Mount Carmel section of Poughkeepsie at Hoffman Street and Delafield before it moves to the town of Ulster next week. Crews are expected back in Poughkeepsie every other three or four weeks to continue the shoot until completion, so there will be plenty more opportunities to catch the filming if you haven’t already. If you are in the area, Rita Powers Casting Group is in charge of the background casting, so keep an eye out if you’re looking to be a part of the production!
