“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 Casts Meryl Streep
There’s even more star power in building as the cast of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” continues to shock and delight! The latest resident (and maybe even the latest suspect): is Meryl Streep.
The 21-time Oscar nominee and three-time Emmy winner is the latest to join the highly anticipated third season of “Only Murders in the Building. The Hulu comedy-drama-mystery series stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez and follows three true-crime podcast fans who start one of their own as a series of mysterious murders crop up around them.
Gomez shared a video on her Instagram this week featuring her with co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, as well as the Streep, Paul Rudd, and Andrea Martin.
It’s unclear at this time if Streep will play a series regular, recurring, or a guest role, nor is it known if she will be playing a character or playing herself, as Sting and Amy Schumer have done in the previous two seasons. Other previous stage and screen stars that have been featured in the series include Tina Fey, Amy Ryan, Jayne Housdyshell, Jackie Hoffman, Nathan Lane, Cara Delevingne, Teddy Coluca, Michael Cyril Creighton, Shirley MacLaine, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jaboukie Young-White, Ali Stroker, Jane Lynch, and many others.
Season 3 will pick up where Season 2 left off as Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) try to solve the murder of Ben Glenroy, played by Rudd.
“Only Murders in the Building” was created by Martin and John Hoffman (“Grace & Frankie”). The series is currently nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards, including two for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Martin and Short and one for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
A release date for Season 3 has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be released later this year. (The previous two seasons have had their premieres in August and June, respectively, so expect to see Season 3 in Summer 2023 or early Fall 2023.)
