“Manifest”
Josh Dallas is switching from fairy tales to mysterious, far-off places in his new pilot “Manifest.” The former Prince Charming from ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” has landed a starring role on NBC’s twisty drama. In a premise that brings back memories of “Lost,” the project will follow the disappearance of an airliner. Presumed to be lost at sea, the mournful family members are shocked when, years later, the plane reappears on the radar. Mysteries abound as the passengers appear entirely untouched by time. The thriller has been adding actors with the help of casting director Sara Isaacson. In addition to Dallas, Luna Blaise, Parveen Kaur, Athena Karkanis, Melissa Roxburgh, and J.R. Ramirez are all on board. Production on the pilot is anticipated to start in mid-March and carry through the end of the month. Filming is expected to take place in New York City.
“Like Family”
The NBC pilot “Like Family” will follow two foster siblings questioning their unusually close relationship. The two, who grew up together, start to realize that their bond is beginning to complicate their adult lives. Kether Donohue and Brandon Mychal Smith have been chosen as lead actors for the comedy, and Greenstein/Daniel is busy gathering the remaining cast. Rebecca Mader and Blake Anderson are slated to be series regulars should the pilot get picked up. The project is heading into production on March 19 and will finish at the end of the month. Los Angeles will host the shoot.
“Grand Hotel”
Eva Longoria is taking on a role behind the camera for ABC pilot “Grand Hotel.” The former “Desperate Housewives” star is securing seaside real estate for the drama project. In the family-run, titular Miami Beach hotel, the guests aren’t the only ones with secrets. The family that owns the property—and the staff who work inside—has their own fuel to fire the soap opera, which is based on Spanish series “Gran Hotel.” Cast by Greg Orson and Lesli Gelles-Raymond, Longoria is sticking behind the scenes as an executive producer and making room for new talent on this project. The pilot will feature Demián Bichir, Bryan Craig, Shalim Ortiz, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Roselyn Sanchez, Denyse Tontz, Chris Warren, and Anne Winters. Production will start in mid-March in Miami.
