Obsessed With Netflix’s ‘Beef’? Apply to These Gigs

Netflix’s “Beef” premiered in early April and quickly became a hit with fans. The dark comedy-drama series follows two strangers (Ali Wong and Steven Yeun) who get into a road rage accident that causes a whirlwind of trouble. While it’s unclear if “Beef” will get a second season, we decided to round up some similar projects that are casting now. For those who want to join a Netflix production or something that reminds them of “Beef,” check out these gigs. 

Netflix: Feature Film

A Netflix feature film is looking for young talent for two principal roles. The production wants white male talent, aged 10–12, to play either Mookie, an overweight boy who loves baseball, or Mullin, an intimidating popular kid at school who is really good at baseball. The role of Mullin requires strong baseball skills. Shooting is in the spring and summer in NYC. Talent will be paid SAG rates.

Hulu: Television Series

An ongoing TV series on Hulu is looking for background talent. Shooting is ongoing in New York City. Talent will be paid $165–$187 per day, depending on union status.

“The Substitute”

Casting is underway for “The Substitute,” a feature film following a group of kids off in summer school. White actors, aged 18–21, are wanted for various supporting roles in the ensemble cast. Filming will take place in Summerlin, Nevada, with dates TBD. Pay is $100 per day for 12 days of work.

Feature Thriller

HBG Casting is seeking actors of color, aged 18–40, to portray bar patrons in background roles in a feature thriller. Filming will take place between April 24–May 9 in Bordentown, New Jersey. Pay is $120–$187 per day.

“Case 7-19” Netflix 

Join the cast of “Case 7-19,” a new independent pilot based on an actual true event. Production is seeking talent for several lead and supporting roles. Shoots in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Pay is $125–$400, depending on the role.

“Spriteful: Lancaster”

Spriteful: Lancaster,” a series based on the comic book by River Comics, is seeking talent, aged 18–60, for various leads and supporting roles. Actors must meet all physical specifications. Rehearsals will take place in June, followed by filming in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Pay is undisclosed by the production.
