New Dramatists, a playwright organization, has selected eight new members of its resident company. The authors, who will hold the posts until 2013, are Tanya Barfield, Adam Bock, Sheila Callaghan, Kirsten Greenidge, Jason Grote, Carson Kreitzer, Young Jean Lee, and Chiori Miyagawa.
Barfield's Blue Door will premiere at Playwrights Horizons and South Coast Rep in Costa Mesa, Calif. Bock's Swimming in the Shallows was produced by Second Stage. Sheila Callaghan's plays have been produced and developed by Soho Rep, Playwrights Horizons, South Coast Rep, and Clubbed Thumb, among others. Greenidge was recently the NEA/TCG playwright-in-residence at the Woolly Mammoth in Washington, D.C.
Grote's work has been produced and developed by 92nd Street Y, the Lincoln Center Director's Lab, and the Ensemble Studio Theatre, among others. Kreitzer's Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer won the Rosenthal New Play Prize. Among other work, Lee has directed her plays at P.S. 122 (Pullman WA) and Soho Rep (The Appeal). Miyagawa's American Dreaming was produced at the Vineyard Theatre, and Nothing Forever and Yesterday's Window were produced at the New York Theatre Workshop.
