Welcome to One Shot With HBO, a pop-up video series that takes a closer look at HBO’s award contenders.
It isn’t just the twists and turns on “The Undoing” that keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Adapted by David E. Kelley from Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel “You Should Have Known” and directed by Susanne Bier, HBO’s limited series hit is led by actors whose very magnetism ups the story’s stakes higher and higher: Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, both doing career-best work.
The Emmy-, Oscar-, and SAG Award–winning Kidman, reuniting with Kelley after their collaboration on “Big Little Lies,” serves as both executive producer and star of “The Undoing.” She stuns in her portrayal of Grace Fraser, an Upper East side wife and mother who finds the foundations of her identity crumbling in the wake of a grisly, well-publicized murder. As her husband Jonathan, the prime suspect of said murder, the Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe–winning Grant draws on his charisma and natural charm to convince Grace, and us, of his innocence. Particularly in scenes together, the actors subvert audience expectations with every dramatic reveal.
Check out the clip below for a glimpse of Kidman and Grant’s stellar, SAG Award–eligible performances on “The Undoing.”
