“Holland, Michigan”

Suspicion will make strange bedfellows in Nicole Kidman’s new Amazon Studios film. Based on a script from Andrew Sodroski (“Manhunt”) that topped the 2013 Black List, “Holland, Michigan,” will star Kidman as a Midwestern woman who hires a private investigator to find out whether her husband is cheating. But things take a sinister turn when they discover that he’s actually a serial killer. Kidman is set to produce via her Blossom Films, with Mimi Cave (“Fresh”) directing and Francine Maisler assembling the cast. The thriller will begin filming in Michigan and Tennessee in late winter 2023.

“Apples Never Fall”

“Big Little Lies” and “Nine Perfect Strangers” novelist Liane Moriarty is getting the small-screen treatment once more with a new Peacock limited series. Melanie Marnich (“The OA,” “The Affair”) will adapt “Apples Never Fall,” Moriarty’s 2021 bestseller. The series follows a scandal that rocks the family of Joy and Stan Delaney, two retired tennis coaches preparing to make the most of their old age. But after Joy mysteriously disappears, their four adult children begin to uncover the dark side of their parents’ marriage. Marnich will also showrun and executive produce the series from Heyday Television. Firefly Casting is putting together the ensemble; no actors are yet attached. The project will head into production early next year in Australia and Florida.

Untitled Drew Goddard Series

“Daredevil” creator Drew Goddard, who also earned a best screenplay Oscar nod for “The Martian,” is penning the pilot of a new ABC procedural. Based on the hit French crime comedy “HPI Haut Potentiel Intellectuel,” the series follows a struggling single mom who works as a cleaner at her local precinct. When she rearranges evidence that leads to the police cracking a seemingly unsolvable case, the department pairs her with a veteran detective. Together, the two become a top-notch crime-solving team. Goddard will also executive produce under his Goddard Textiles banner. No actors are currently attached, but Colloff/Nicolo Casting is on the case. Production on the untitled project is set to kick off in January of next year in a U.S. location that’s yet to be announced.
