Opportunities for actors based in New York City abound in today’s Backstage casting listings. Get on-camera experience with Gabourey Sidibe, Amazon, a new web series, or in a print modeling gig!
“THE TALE OF FOUR”
Want to work with Academy Award nominee Gabourey Sidibe? The actor is directing a short film for Refinery29 that needs several talented actors. The project offers a sneak peek into the lives of four different women, each based on the figures in Nina Simone’s song “Four Women.” This gig will rehearse in July and shoot in early August in New York City.
AMAZON’S “Z: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING”
The Amazon series “Z,” led by Grant Wilfley Casting, is looking for background talent for a July 7 shoot in NYC. Caucasian collegiate men aged 18–30 are needed for the project, and participants must be comfortable getting a haircut appropriate to the early 1900s.
“BROKELYN”
Not affiliated with the Brooklyn-based website, but nonetheless drawing from the adventures of hard up Brooklynites, this web series is seeking three leading actors and three day players based in the New York area for a July rehearsal and August shoot. This gig is paid, so if you’re as broke as its characters, consider submitting!
CAPITAL ONE PRINT MODELS
A modeling gig from Zinc Productions is now casting “good looking, physically fit, male and female talent who are comfortable on set for a print shoot” June 30 in Union Square, NYC. Check it out!
