In today’s casting roundup, an indie horror film is seeking talent for various lead and supporting roles for a West Coast shoot. Plus, a short basketball-themed drama, a funny commercial for a popular swimsuit brand, and a coming-of-age short are casting today!


Casting is underway for “Cottontail,” an independent horror feature film that centers around themes of gender, persecution, politics, and the meaning of family. Actors, aged 18 and older, are wanted for various lead and supporting roles in the film. Nudity and/or simulated sex will be required for multiple lead roles (an intimacy coordinator will be on set during filming). Rehearsals and filming will take place in Portland, Oregon, with dates TBD. (Talent must be able to work locally.) Pay is $125–$300 for up to 15 days of work.

“Off Beaver Street”

A Black male actor, age 40–60, is wanted to play a lead role in “Off Beaver Street,” a short basketball-themed drama. Additionally, talent, aged 18 and older, is wanted to play cops, bookies, and more in day player roles. Filming will take place in Jacksonville, Florida, in June or July. Pay is $300 per day for up to six days of work.

“Unstoppable Confidence”

Actors, aged 18–50, are wanted for a 1980s-themed comedic commercial for a popular swimsuit brand. Talent will work on April 30 in Los Angeles. Pay is $350–$500.

“Mad Summer”

Three New York City-based actors, aged 8–28, are wanted for the lead roles in “Mad Summer,” a nonunion coming-of-age short film. One of the roles requires the ability to skateboard at a beginner level, and the other two roles require skateboarding abilities at an intermediate level or higher. Rehearsals will begin in August, followed by filming on Aug. 30–Sept. 2 in Fairfield, Connecticut. Pay is $1,200 for four days of work with the potential for provided housing and transportation.
