In today’s roundup, the Samuel L. Jackson-led “Son of Shaft,” a reboot of the 1970s action film “Shaft,” is looking for background, including real members of the military. Plus, make $5,000 as one of the two leads in a corporate web series, play the principal role in a Tony-nominated play, or play the role of Pepper in the hit jukebox musical “Mamma Mia.”

“SON OF SHAFT”
The Samuel L. Jackson-led “Son of Shaft,” a reboot of the 1970s action film “Shaft,” is casting background talent. Male and female actors, aged 18 and older, are wanted to portray funeral mourners. Casting is underway for two lead roles in “Unforgettable Journey,” a 24-episode web series designed for an incentive corporate plan (internal use only). A female actor, aged 34–40, and a male actor, aged 34–45, are wanted to play the roles of Jessica and Jeffery, respectively. Production dates and times are TBD and will be shot over the next five months in Burbank, California. Pay is $5,000, plus $50 per diem while traveling. Accommodations and air travel will be provided. “GOOD PEOPLE”
“Good People,” the Tony-nominated play that “explores the struggles, shifting loyalties, and unshakeable hope that comes with having next to nothing in America,” is looking to cast two roles in a West Coast production. A female actor, aged 28–55, is sought to play Margie, a working-class single mother, and a big-hearted, scrappy survivor. Talent must be able to do a South Boston accent. There is also a supporting role available for a female actor, aged 30–35, to play Kate, a privileged college literature professor. There will be an open casting call on Jan. 28 in Anaheim, California. Rehearsals will begin March 5 and the production runs April 20–May 20 at Chance Theater in Anaheim, California. “MAMMA MIA!”
The Derby Dinner Playhouse production of “Mamma Mia!” is currently seeking a male actor, aged 20–40, to play the supporting role of Pepper, casting immediately. Talent must be 5’9” or shorter. The show rehearses Feb. 5–20 and runs Feb. 21–April 8 in Louisville, Kentucky. Pay is $350–$450 per week, with housing and travel provided. Apply here!
