Now Casting: Lead, Supporting Roles in Student Film ‘Sonata’ and More

Today’s roundup of casting notices is nearly bursting with opportunities on both stage and screen. An inspirational student film is casting actors for principal roles, Disney’s “The Lion King” seeks talent for its currently running touring and Broadway productions, and more great gigs around the country are looking for actors just like you!

Casting is underway for “Sonata,” a student film for New York Film Academy “about two young musicians finding each other and working together to achieve their dreams.” Two sets of male and female actors are sought for the pairs of leading and supporting roles, respectively, and will be needed for production at to-be-determined dates in Burbank, California. Hired actors will be paid $100/day.

A national co-branded cable television ad is casting for a spot shooting the week of April 18 in Brooklyn, New York. Two female actors ages 30–38 are needed for a lead and background role, as is a child actress aged 7–9 for another leading part. By-appointment auditions will be held in Brooklyn April 12 and 14. Pay will be $500/day for principals, and $250/day for background.

Wynn Las Vegas is casting male and female dancers ages 18–35 for its currently-running production of “Le Rêve—The Dream.” Performers must be “technically-trained contemporary dancers,” able to execute adagio. An open casting call will be held in Chicago, Illinois on April 19, with performances ongoing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Compensation will be a “competitive Las Vegas performer salary.”

Union talent is sought to join the currently running Broadway and touring productions of Disney’s “The Lion King.” Featuring a score by Elton John and Tim Rice, the tuner is looking for future replacements for several principal roles including Nala, Scar, and Mufasa. Equity Principal Auditions will be held in New York City on April 13. Those hired will be paid $1,974/week, under an Equity Production (Disney) Contract.
