Now Casting: Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Open Call and More Gigs

Here’s a star-studded casting roundup for you! Marvel’s upcoming “Black Panther,” starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o, will hold an open casting call for background talent. If that isn’t enough to intrigue you, we also have three more jobs ranging from a Showtime drama to regional theater. “BLACK PANTHER”
“Black Panther,” Marvel’s anticipated feature depicting “T’Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda [who] must defend his land,” is casting talent for background roles. Seeking both male and females aged 18–90, the production will hold an open call Nov. 5 and 6 in Norcross, Georgia. Shooting is slated for January–May 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.

“THE HOUR”
Nonunion actors are sought for an upcoming production of “The Hour,” a play following “the journey of a young woman named Cherise.” A female actor aged 18–24 is sought for that leading role, in addition to several supporting parts. Rehearsals will begin mid-November with a run scheduled for February 2017 in New Jersey.

SHOWTIME’S “BILLIONS”
Showtime drama “Billions,” starring Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, is casting background talent. The series seeks male actors aged 21–45 to portray “hedge fund types” for a shoot on Oct. 24, as well as male and female talent for various matching night shots on Oct. 27 and 28. Shooting will take place in the New York City area.

“THE MANIFESTO MONOLOGUES”
“The Manifesto Monologues,” Outsider Theater’s “true-crime piece based off the published manifestos of notorious criminals,” is casting nonunion actors for two leading roles. The play seeks a male actor aged 22–45 to portray Chris, a disgraced police officer, and another male actor aged 30–55 to play Ted, an introverted genius. Performances will take place the last two weeks of January 2017 in Ashland, Oregon.
