If you can stand the heat, get into the kitchen for today’s top gigs! The long-running NBC series “The Blacklist,” starring James Spader, is casting background actors to portray sous chefs. Plus, three short films, including one about a young serial killer making his first kill, are casting lead roles around the country.

NBC’s “The Blacklist,” starring James Spader, is seeking talent for background roles. Male actors, aged 18–35, are wanted to portray sous chefs. Cooking or kitchen experience is a plus. Filming will take place on Oct. 31 in New York City. Pay is $179 for eight hours plus overtime after that. Apply here!

Join the cast of “His First Time,” a short film in which a young serial killer makes his first kill. Two white actors, aged 18–32, are wanted to portray the serial killer and his victim. Filming will take place in mid-November near Alexandria, Virginia with exact dates TBD. Pay is $100. Apply here!

Casting is underway for “Drying,” a student thesis short film from the New School that focuses on the friendship between two young men as one reviews their drinking habits. Two male actors, aged 21–29, are wanted to play the roles of Keith and Chase. Filming will take place on the weekend of Nov. 22 in NYC. Pay is $100 per day with meals provided. Apply here!
