There are plenty of opportunities on both coasts to get cast! Check out these five projects, including Baz Luhrmann’s new foray into streaming television and a 30-minute political satire stage production based out of Los Angeles.
NETFLIX, “THE GET DOWN”
Background kids of African-American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, or mixed race descent are needed in an upcoming scene in the Luhrmann–directed original series about hip-hop kids in the late 1970s and early ’80s. The job pays $100 for 10 hours and actors must have a 1970s appropriate hairstyle. The fitting is April 7 with filming taking place April 8.
“THE MONKEY’S CHOICE”
Actors with finely tuned comedic timing should consider applying for this L.A.–based political satire about the presidential elections. Compensation will be $50 per performance with rehearsals beginning May 9 for the six-week run kicking off May 23.
“OKJA”
Photo doubles are being cast for this paid production shooting July 16–25 in New York City. Grant Wilfley Casting is handling this feature film.
“TODAY IS TODAY”
Auditions are April 9 and 10 for this short film centering on a father taking his daughter on a final road trip before he drops her off at college. After his recent divorce from her mother, the two must learn to accept each other’s new life chapters. Actors will be paid $75 a day plus meals.
“THE EARLY BIRD SPECIAL”
Six lead actors plus cast and crew are being sought for this one-act, 30-minute play about an elderly, ill couple who doesn’t plan on suffering for long. Their self-centered kids must figure out how to save them, but the meaning of salvation is up for interpretation. Submissions will be accepted out of New York City.
