Now Casting: ‘We Are New York’ Lead + 3 More Gigs

There are few international communities as great as the one in NYC, and today’s casting roundup has an opportunity to help build that even further! The Emmy Award-winning series “We Are New York,” created to help immigrants practice their English, is looking for actors to fill several roles. There are also roles available in a workplace web series, a low-budget feature, a short film!

“We Are New York,” the Emmy Award-winning TV series from the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs created to help immigrant New Yorkers practice English while informing of the city’s resources, is casting several roles. Male and female talent aged 20–79 is sought to fill a wide variety of lead, supporting, and day player characters, including the lead Rolando. There is also a supporting role available for a young male actor ages 5–10. All characters will speak English in their native accents. Actors must be able to “speak very slowly and very clearly with strong enunciation.” Auditions are June 27 and 28 in NYC, with potential shoot dates July 10–24. Pay is $150 per day.

The upcoming web series “Common Space” is looking for actors to fill several roles. The 12- to 15-minute episodes will focus “on two different companies [who] must share the same kitchen and bathroom in the workplace while trying not to get on each other's nerves.” A female actor ages 23–30 is needed to play the lead role of Jamie. There are also several supporting roles available for male and female talent aged 20–50. The series will shoot in Ventura, California, dates TBD. Pay is $120 per day with meals provided.

“Mollywood,” an upcoming low-budget feature film about “a young man [who] sets out to rid the streets of drug users in the name of God,” is seeking Chicago actors to fill several background roles. Male and female talent aged 18–35 are needed to portray male club goers, a young couple, and a rave DJ. The production shoots June 27–30 in Chicago. Some pay will be provided under the SAG-AFTRA Low Budget Agreement.

Casting is underway for “Allowable Dreams,” a short film. Several principal roles are available for male and female talent aged 20–60. The film shoots Aug. 21–25, in Austin, Texas. Some pay will be provided.
