There’s no day but today to book yourself a paying gig! A nonunion touring production of Jonathan Larson’s “Rent” is casting for lead and ensemble roles in today’s casting roundup, as are three more projects on stage and screen.
“RENT” NATIONAL TOUR
Talent is needed for a nonunion touring production of the rock musical “Rent.” The tuner, which won both the Tony Award for Best Musical as well as a Pulitzer Prize, will hold by-appointment auditions on June 5 in New York City for the roles of Maureen, Angel, and the ensemble. The tour will kick off around Sept. 19, with a contract lasting through June 2018. Principals will be paid $650/week, with ensemble members paid $550/week. Per diem, housing, and travel will be provided for all.
“THE UNTOLD YIPPEE PROJECT”
Sunglasses After Dark Productions is casting union and nonunion talent for “The Untold Yippee Project,” a play set in the 1970s depicting the Yippies, who “made their anti-war, anti-capitalist sentiments well known with in-your-face activism.” Actors are needed for lead and ensemble roles and will be paid $200/week. A run is slated for Aug. 6–13 in New York City.
“EASY”
Netflix series “Easy” is casting talent for several background roles including park pedestrians, bar patrons, and more. Actors will be needed for a shoot set for May 16–22 in Chicago, Illinois, and will be paid $84/eight hours of production.
“GREASE”
Stolen Shakespeare Guild is casting nonunion actors for its upcoming production of “Grease.” Seeking talent for roles including Danny, Sandy, Frenchy, and more, the team will hold auditions by appointment on May 21 and 22 in Irving, Texas, with the run set for Aug. 11–27 in Fort Worth. Some pay will be provided.
