Now Casting: Play Dive Bar Patrons in FX’s ‘The Americans’ + 3 More Gigs

In today’s casting roundup, the FX series “The Americans” is continuing its hunt for background actors for a scene shooting this week in NYC. There are also lead roles available in two short films, including the top-billed lead role in “The Wife Just Doesn’t Understand,” as well as multiple lead roles for classically-trained actors in “The Yiddish King Lear.”

The hit FX series “The Americans” is continuing its background casting. Nonunion male and female talent, aged 21–60, are sought to play dive bar patrons. Talent must be available all day on Dec. 14 in NYC. Pay is $143. Apply here!

“Switch,” a short film about a young girl who, after recovering from a head injury, is confused by her all-too-perfect family and surroundings, is seeking talent for lead roles. A male actor and a female actor, aged 30–50, are wanted to portray the main character’s upscale, fit, and trim parents. The film will shoot Jan. 18–20 in Dallas, Texas. Pay is $500, plus a 10 percent agency fee, with meals, IMDB credit, and travel credit for actors more than 30 miles away provided. Apply here!

Casting is currently underway for “The Yiddish King Lear,” a play by Jacob Gordin performed in English and starring David Serero. Male and female talent, aged 18–40, are sought for multiple lead roles in the production, including Etele, Taybele, and Trytel. Good voice projection and classic theater experience are required. The play will rehearse Jan. 24–27 with audiobook recording Jan. 28, a dress rehearsal on Jan. 29, and performances on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1 at the Orensanz Foundation in NYC. The retro, 1950s sci-fi-horror short film “The Wife Just Doesn’t Understand” is currently casting a female actor of color, aged 19–29, to play Cinnamon, the top-billed lead role. Talent must be fit and comfortable in a scene wearing underwear. There is an audition by appointment on Dec. 16 in NYC. The film will rehearse one day in January in Morganville, New Jersey.
