Casting is underway for “Melanin,” a 1980s-set short film about a young Black woman who fights to create her own modeling agency in an industry that refuses to see her worth. Los Angeles-based actors, aged 18–60, are wanted for several roles, including Earl. Production is also hiring multiple crew positions, including a director of photography and a hair/makeup artist, as well as models, aged 18–35. Rehearsals will begin in early summer, followed by filming over four or five days in the greater L.A. area. Pay is $80–$250 per day for up to 12 days of work with credits and meals provided for some.

“Ancient Egypt - Expedition Unknown,” Discovery Channel
Arab American Casting is seeking talent for the Discovery Channel docuseries “Ancient Egypt - Expedition Unknown,” streaming on Max. Middle Eastern talent based in L.A., aged 18–50, is wanted for various roles in historical recreations depicting the building of the Great Pyramid of Giza (circa 2,500 B.C.). No visible tattoos, removable piercings, braces, or modern hairstyles will be permitted. Filming will take place in the desert east of Pasadena on May 16. Pay is $250–$400.

“The Canon of Grimward”
Join the cast of “The Canon of Grimward,” a TV dramedy about a motley crew of mystical misfits who form an unlikely family as they fight to keep their beloved tavern alive. Two male actors, aged 30–85, are wanted for the lead role of Jambrito and the supporting role of Aldric. Rehearsals will take place on May 4–June 1 in Medford, Massachusetts, followed by filming on June 1–17 in Derry. Supporting talent will be paid $1,500 and lead talent will be paid $2,500.

Pet Food Commercial
L.A.-based actors, aged 25–45, with commercial experience are wanted for a TV and digital commercial for a pet food brand. Talent must be comfortable with dogs. Filming will take place on May 19 or 20. Pay is $650.
