NYC Now Casting: ‘Sister Act’ Is Seeking its Lead Deloris Van Cartier + 2 More Gigs

You could be the cock of the walk and the talk of the town with a little help from today’s casting roundup. Alan Menken and Glenn Slater’s “Sister Act” is currently seeking a female actor to play the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier. There are also roles available in a student short film and in a dentistry commercial.

Casting is currently underway for a production of the Alan Menken and Glenn Slater musical “Sister Act.” A Black female actor, aged 27–35, is wanted to play the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier, a feisty and funny diva with a caring heart. Talent must have great comedic timing and wit, and be able to move well. There is an audition by appointment on Jan. 19 in NYC. Rehearsals will begin Mar. 20, and the production will run May 18–Aug. 11 in Abingdon, Virginia. Pay is $800 per week, with housing and roundtrip transportation provided. Apply here!

Join the cast of “Deux Vox Ex Machina,” a student short film. A female actor, aged 65 or older, is wanted to play the lead role of Diaena, a hardened, blind fortune teller. Talent must be willing to wear contact lenses. There is also a lead role available for a male actor, aged 37 or older. Additionally, there are supporting roles for a male actor, aged 38–59, and a young female actor, aged 7–11. There is no dialogue for either of these roles.
