Hey, New York actors! Stay in the loop and be sure to check back every week for projects currently in production in the place you call home. Here’s the 411 on what’s filming big and small in your city.
“Bad Education”
Production on Hugh Jackman’s “Bad Education” is about ready to get off the ground! According to a Backstage notice, the production is looking for a photo double and will tentatively shoot Sept. 10 and onward in the city, with no exact location provided. The plot is mainly being kept under wraps but allegedly is based on true events that writer Mike Makowsky experienced in high school. Jackman, Allison Janney, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Ray Romano are all on board to star in the film, which will be directed by Cory Finley. Keep an eye in the coming months for more possible opportunities working on the film!
“Manifest”
We’re weeks away from the Sept. 24 premiere of the new NBC drama “Manifest,” starring Josh Dallas, Luna Blaise Boyd, Melissa Roxburgh, and more, and before the world gets to see it, the series is wrapping up some production this week in New York City and the surrounding areas. Crew is in Sands Point Preserve on Long Island today, according to On Location Vacations, and then will be in Queens on Melbourne Avenue between Kissena Boulevard and 152 Street tomorrow. The shoot tomorrow still has potential background roles available, such as scientists and government workers, if you want to get on the premiere season!
“Happy!”
You can forget your troubles: the second season of the SyFy black comedy “Happy!” is back! Starring Christopher Meloni, “Happy!” follows disgraced police detective Nick Sax who, after sustaining a massive heart attack, comes in contact with an imaginary friend named Happy (voiced by Patton Oswalt). Signs on Victory Boulevard on Staten Island have popped up, showing a Sept. 12 filming. Gayle Pillsbury is currently the casting director of the series.
