“Better Nate Than Ever”
The upcoming Disney+ adaptation of “Better Nate Than Ever” is right on time! The project has been filming under the working title “Pittsburgh,” and according to signs spotted around town, it has been filming in several locations in the past couple of weeks, including 47th Street and 8th Avenue, near the Museum of Natural History at 80th Street, and in Port Chester in Upstate New York. Author Tim Federle, who has written, produced, and directed episodes of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” will direct his own adaptation of his book series. It follows unpopular Midwestern kid Nate Foster, who fantasizes about becoming a big Broadway star, and masterminds a trip to NYC with his best friend Libby to audition for “Lilo and Stitch: The Musical.” The film put out a nationwide open casting call back in January for the starring role of Nate, as well as for Libby, but no casting has been announced at this time. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce. The film is expected out in early 2022 on Disney+.
