Happy Emmy Awards season!

Although they won’t arrive until September, Hollywood is officially ramping up for the small screen’s biggest awards. Today marks the first day of Primetime Emmy nominating, meaning the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is already considering who presented the best TV of the 2017–18 season—specifically, programs that aired 6:00 P.M.–2:00 A.M., June 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018.

Around 22,000 members of ATAS, in 30 peer groups ranging from acting to makeup and hair artists, are now making their choices in what is known as the first phase; June 11–25 is the time to cast votes to determine who and what is nominated. That announcement, as the handy Emmys calendar below demonstrates, then comes July 12. Ernst and Young accountants will oversee all ballot tallying, including at the second phase: awards-round voting, in August. Mark your calendars with the important dates and information below, and join Backstage’s awards coverage in counting down to the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony!
