“NDB” on a film set? Does it apply to BOTH principal actors AND background???
I was working as a principal actor on a major TV show this week, and I was early for my call time. I asked the AD if I am supposed to take an ’NDB’ (non-deductible breakfast). My call time was before the crew call time (even though I was also early to report) so I thought it might be possible that I am to take an NDB before the crew call time or around then so I get ’in synch’ with the crew. The AD said something like, ’Well, when you graduate from background, you don’t get an NDB’....???? I wasn’t even thinking about background work. I don’t work very often as a principal, but I always THOUGHT that the term ’NDB’ applied to PRINCIPAL actors, as well as to background actors....?? Am I wrong about this?? Did I embarrass myself unnecessarily...???” —nycharacteractor

Agent advice, please help!
Hi there, fellow actors and friends! I was recently on set for a film and after some chit chat with other actors I found they were shocked that my agent had only sent me two self-tape auditions (for the same project) since being signed with them since late June. My last agent—who I was freelancing with—got me only one audition and that was at the end of my one-year contract, and was also for a non-paid reading. I was still very grateful to them but after booking so much work on my own in that same year and them only getting me in one room, I knew it was time to gracefully say bye. I’m worried this will happen again with this agent; this time I am exclusive across the board and they have specifically instructed not to self-submit. Both my agents have been SAG-AFTRA boutique agencies and I have been trying to establish a nice working relationship. How do I ensure I’m on the right path without being overbearing? I haven’t discussed the lack of auditions but have been wishing them well on holidays, team birthdays, etc. I’ve been thinking that this is just slower time for auditions, but after talking with the other actors I’m not too sure. Not sure if I should also link to my personal website, headshots, résumé, etc. but I believe I have good material and experience as I’ve been booking work on my own.Thank you so much in advance for all of your help! I just don’t want to waste anytime as I’m fresh out of school and have all the free time and determination on my side!” —BackstageUser

“Can I join Equity if I have a non-eq gig lined up? Or do I have to wait till that gig is over to join?” —girrafe7
