The Anaheim Ballet is staging “The Nutcracker” for its 32nd Season. The much-loved Christmas classic by Tchaikovsky will be performed in Anaheim, California and Laughlin, Nevada. The production is currently casting ballet dancers, male character actors, and children for the chorus and ensemble.
The ballet is casting male and female ballet dancers, aged 14–45. Dancers should have high-intermediate to advanced ballet skills and women should be dancing en pointe. Additionally, supporting roles are open for male character actors that move well. Actors should be aged 25–65. Young dancers for the youth chorus should be aged 8–13.
An open audition will take place in Anaheim, California on Sept. 8. Rehearsals begin in late September or early October. The schedule will be Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. All rehearsals will be at the Anaheim Ballet Studios.
The ballet will run from Dec. 6–9 in Laughlin, Nevada for five performances and a dress rehearsal. Another dress rehearsal on Nov. 27 and two performances on Dec. 22 and 23 will take place in Anaheim, California.
Dancers over the age of 18 will receive a flat rate for the performances, with a gratis company class for every day of rehearsal. Meals, lodging, and transportation will be provided for the trip to Nevada.
