“Patty’s Auto”
Elizabeth Banks is feeling a spark of love over at Fox with her new pilot, “Patty’s Auto.” The actor’s production company, Brownstone Productions, is stepping out with a new comedy that takes on gender stereotypes. With her husband, Max Handelman, Banks is spotlighting Patty’s garage, an operation run solely by female auto workers. The pilot is drawing inspiration from the real-life story of Patrice Banks, a woman who started a movement of “shecanics” with her female-run auto repair shop in Pennsylvania. The group of wrench-wielders is taking shape thanks to McCarthy/Abellera Casting. Carra Patterson, Sarah Levy, Joanna P. Adler, Kyla Pratt, Paola Lázaro, and Jonathan Sadowski are already lined up for the project. Production will kick off in early April in Los Angeles.
“Triangle”
Of all the mystical places on Earth, few have conjured more theories than the Bermuda Triangle. In a twist that feels part “Swiss Family Robinson,” part “Lost,” ABC’s “Triangle” will follow a family that ends up stranded on an island filled with other victims of the region. The island inhabitants, all hailing from different places and time periods, band together to find a way off the rock that’s locked in its own time bubble. The cast for the project is already shaping up with the help of Zuckerbrod/Thomas Casting. Mike Vogel, Mallory Jansen, Edwin Hodge, and Matt Passmore are all signed on. Production will take place half a world away from the real Bermuda Triangle in New Zealand. Production is set to start at the beginning of April.
“The Unicorn”
Dating is tough, but one dad is about to discover just how difficult it can be to nab the perfect partner. After suffering the loss of his wife, a widower and his two daughters spend a year in mourning before rebuilding their lives. For the newly single father, that means sticking a toe back into the dating pool—where he quickly finds out being a single dad is a hot commodity. The half-hour comedy pilot has found its network over at CBS with Tim Payne casting. Walton Goggins is attached to the pilot in a leading role, but so far he’s the only name on the cast list ahead of production. Cameras will start rolling at the end of March and continue into early April in Los Angeles.
