It was the musical heard ’round the world, and now it’s coming straight to your living room! PBS just released the first trailer for its anticipated documentary on Lin-Manuel Miranda and his award-winning “Hamilton,” titled “Hamilton’s America.”

The Broadway behemoth has been the hottest ticket on the Great White Way since its opening at the Richard Rodgers Theatre last August, but like Rome, this masterpiece was hardly built in a day. “Hamilton’s America,” which premieres Oct. 21, offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the roots of this record-breaking musical, including the first conversation Miranda had with director Thomas Kail.

“Lin didn’t say I was writing a show. Lin said that I’m writing a song,” Kail recalls in the first official teaser’s moment.

“I worked on it for about a year,” Miranda confirms.

By the looks of it, the documentary also features interviews with Broadway, entertainment, and political heavy-hitters alike: President Barack Obama and Jimmy Fallon, to name two.

“When you told us, ‘I’m gonna do a rap about Alexander Hamilton,’ we said, ‘Well, good luck with that!” Obama recalls in a chat with Miranda. These gems and more abound in the anticipated peek at the creative magic of a certified genius.
