From a Disney musical to a feature-length filming in Greece, here are seven projects from this week’s casting notices that’ll keep you on your toes! Find your next gig below!
“THE LITTLE MERMAID”
You’ll be under the sea and in the California sun with this gig! Throckmorton Theatre is casting leading roles in their upcoming production of “The Little Mermaid.” Submissions from Mill Valley, California, are being accepted, and rehearsals will take place June 20–Aug. 4.
“IN THE HEIGHTS”
The lead role of Vanessa is being cast for the Portland, Oregon–based production of the Tony-winning production of “In the Heights.” Written by the current toast of Broadway’s town Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show runs April 4–May 1. The role provides some pay.
PARTY PRINCESS CHARACTERS
L.A.-based models and performers are being sought to play a variety of princesses and superhero characters at corporate, celebrity, and kids parties. These are hourly positions that pay $60 for the first 60 minutes and $50 for each hour after.
“LAVEAU”
Free Colony Pictures is seeking a female, African-American actor to play New Orleans’ ever-elusive iconic figure, Marie Laveau, a Creole voodoo practitioner. The lead role pays $450 per day plus travel. The film is set to shoot on site in spring 2017.
BIG PUN FILM
Miami is about to get a taste of Big Pun. Creatives are seeking a male Hispanic actor, 18–40, to play the late rapper, Christopher “Big Pun” Rios, for a 2016 shoot. The role pays $5,000 and is being cast out of the Florida city.
“LIFE IS FOR LIVING”
One lead and three supporting roles are being cast out of Thousand Oaks and Los Angeles, California, for a short student film about a young man who starts lucid dreaming after the death of his grandfather. Rehearsals begin in March for the April 1–3 shoot. Copy and credit will be provided.
“WITH A KISS I DIE”
Three actors are being sought for this Shakespeare spinoff centered on an immortal Juliet Capulet who must live for all of eternity with the memory of her true love dying in her arms 800 years prior. It takes a young man who captures her affections to learn to let go. This feature film about healing, love, and loss will film in various cities in Greece between May and June 2016.
