Breslin, 13, an Academy Award nominee for the movie, "Little Miss Sunshine," had received praise from critics for her Broadway debut playing the blind and deaf Keller, but it wasn't enough to save the revival that will close next Sunday after 21 previews and 38 regular performances. It made a loss of $2.5 million.
Producer David Richenthal said he was "saddened" the revival of the William Gibson play must close. The play, which also starred actress Alison Pill as Keller's teacher Annie Sullivan, first appeared on Broadway more than 50 years ago starring Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke.
