Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.
Marvel’s “The Eternals”
One of the world’s biggest actors is reportedly joining the world’s biggest franchise. Angelina Jolie is in talks for the forthcoming Marvel feature “The Eternals.” Directed by Chloé Zhao from a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, “The Eternals” takes on the saga of the titular group, a race of immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history civilizations. There’s no word yet which role Jolie would play if officially cast, nor when the film is even going to be released, but like most Marvel film projects, Sarah Finn is the casting director, so she will be the one to watch for any other big casting moves.
Untitled Elvis Presley Pic
He’s gone from Walt Disney to Mr. Rogers, and now, Tom Hanks will join another colorful historical story. The beloved actor is reportedly in talks to play Colonel Tom Parker, the iconic manager of Elvis Presley, in Baz Luhrmann’s currently-untitled flick for Warner Bros. According to Variety, the feature will be directed and co-written (with Craig Pearce) by Luhrmann. Hanks would play Parker alongside a currently-uncast Presley. Rumor has it that role will go to a newcomer. Most of the film’s details are still being ironed out, including who the casting director is, so this will have to be one to keep your sights on.
“Macbeth”
The Scottish Play is getting a new adaptation, and the film has reportedly found its stars. According to Deadline, Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand are in talks to star in a Joel Coen adaptation of Macbeth. Scott Rudin will be producing the project with Coen directing and writing. Coen nearly exclusively works with Ellen Chenoweth as CD—keep an eye on her door for some opportunities of your own!
