Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.

“Green Lantern Corps”
With “Mission: Impossible: Fallout” currently in theaters, Tom Cruise has re-proven his movie star status. But the next big step in his career could be a comic book adaptation. Cruise is reportedly in line to play the Green Lantern in the forthcoming Warner Bros.–DC Comics film “Green Lantern Corps.” This would be a first for Cruise, who, despite his numerous action flicks, has never starred in a superhero blockbuster. This would be the second round of speculation for the lead, as Armie Hammer has also been rumored to play the role, but frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie has been attached to the project in recent buzz which makes the Cruise rumor seem the more likely scenario. Warner Bros. and DC Comics have gone with several different casting directors for its films, so this will have to be one to keep your eyes on, particularly once they confirm a director.

“Little Women”
We’re a little bit closer to the upcoming Greta Gerwig adaptation of “Little Women,” and the cast allegedly is a little bit to completion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laura Dern is currently in negotiations to join the adaptation of Louisa May Alcott classic, directed by Gerwig. If Dern officially signs on, she’ll join the already-announced Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, Florence Pugh, James Norton, and Meryl Streep. Despite the “Lady Bird” reunion with Chalamet and Ronan, Gerwig is going with two new casting directors for this project: Kathy Driscoll and Francine Maisler so watch their office for potential additional roles.

“Designing Women”
If you think the current revival and reboot trend is on its way out, think again. In the ever-growing list that includes “Murphy Brown,” “ALF,” and too many others, the newest addition is the classic ‘90s sitcom “Designing Women,” starring Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts, and Jean Smart. According to TVLine, Sony is currently developing a reboot with the series’ original creator, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, and is expected to go out to the marketplace soon. There’s no word which casting director will be working on the show since the passing of original CD Fran Bascom, but, as with other reboots, expect a new take on casting with the new iteration of the show..
