Just before Andrew Garfield booked the role of Spidey in big-screen Marvel Entertainment reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2010, rumors were flying about the shortlist of actors tapped for the role: Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Ose Hayble, and Anton Yelchin were among them.

But Josh Hutcherson of “Hunger Games” fame went so far as to record an elaborately choreographed sizzle reel, full of real flips and high-flying kicks, for producers to consider. The comic book–loving actor, only 17 at the time, has the youthful looks and flair for awkwardness required of Peter Parker; what many didn’t know was that he also had the action hero bona fides. Allegedly staged by stunt and fight choreographer Larnell Stovall, the extended fight sequence is so well produced, it’s easy to imagine Hutcherson’s spidey senses tingling.
