Seeking Voice Actors for SAG Foundation and Audible Partnership

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation and, a leading producer and distributor of audiobooks, are teaming up to offer unique educational and employment opportunities for selected voiceover artists.

SAG-AFTRA members nationwide are eligible to record and submit a five-minute audio audition for the chance to earn a 13-week narrating contract with Audible. The submission deadline has just been extended until 6 p.m. PST on Thursday, Jan. 31, “due to considerable interest,” the SAG Foundation announced Jan. 29.

Audible will ultimately hire four voiceover artists—two males and two females—from 20 finalists, who will be chosen by the company’s producers.

The SAG Foundation’s new partnership with is intended to educate and train guild members about the craft of voice acting, in preparation for the opportunity to work for Audible Studios, the company’s production division.

Twenty voice actors will be invited to participate in a training course at the SAG Foundation’s Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab in Los Angeles. The class will act as a prep course for the finalists, who Audible staff will teach and assist in preparing a strong long-form recorded submission and setting up a successful home recording studio. Each finalist will then have until Feb. 21 to submit a 10- to 15-minute sample recording.

Four voice actors will earn 13-week SAG-AFTRA contract to record narration from their home studios. In addition, the winning voiceover artists will receive ProTools recording software and a pro-quality microphone from Audible.

Talent should be able to begin working immediately, or at least within eight weeks of being chosen, according to the SAG Foundation.
