Welcome back to our guide for what’s casting! As usual, we’ve scoured the landscape to bring you information on all the best projects in film, theater, and television, sourced with information from the most reliable sources. This is show business we’re talking about, though, and as quickly as a play can bring down its curtain, a project can end before it’s even begun; that said, here’s what you can currently look out for!
Windy City actors, this one is for you and you will not want to miss it.
“The Chi,” a new drama that’s received a series order from Showtime, is casting local Chicago talent for background roles.
Under casting director Jess Gisin, the team seeks male and female talent of various ages to depict roles including teachers, parents, and neighbors. Actors will be needed for production June 27–30, with pay starting at $84/eight hours.
The series comes courtesy of “Master of None” writer and breakout star Lena Waithe, who will also executive produce alongside Common and Elwood Reid, who’ll serve as showrunner.
Jason Mitchell is in place to lead the series, as an ambitious young man determined to open his own restaurant one day, but who is torn between the prospect of a new life and his family back in the South Side of Chicago.
We told you that you wouldn’t want to miss this one! Apply for the gig on Backstage right here.
