"On the Outs," a drama directed by Lori Silverbush and Michael Skolnik received the Grand Jury Sparky Award for best narrative feature as well as the dramatic audience award as the 11th annual Slamdance Film Festival in Park City concluded Friday.
"Phil the Alien," directed by Rob Stefaniuk, received an honorable mention from the jury, while Chip Godwin also received an honorable mention for best performance for his work in John Erick Dowdle's "The Dry Spell."
The jury award for best documentary feature went to "Abel Raises Cain," directed by Jenny Abel and Jeff Hockett," with Scott Dalton and Margarita Martinez's "La Sierra" receiving an honorable mention.
The prize for best animated short went to "Egg," with an honorable mention to "Shoel."
"Splintered" was named best narrative short, with "Twitch" receiving honorable mention.
"Run to Jay's" took the prize for best documentary short, while "Birdlings Two" received honorable mention.
In addition to the audience award for best narrative feature awarded to "On the Outs," Juliet McKoen's "Frozen" took the runner-up prize.
The audience award for best documentary feature went to Taggart Siegel's "The Real Dirt on Farmer John," with Carlene Cordova's "Ringers: Lord of the Fans" taking runner-up.
The Spirit of Slamdance Award for best gallery short went to "Letters of Service," and the Global Anarchy Award for best anarchy short went to "Milton Is a Shitbag."
The Kodak Vision Award for Best Cinematography went to "Frozen," on which Phil Robertson was director of photography and Hugh Fairs contributed underwater cinematography.
The award for best teleplay went to Ken Pisani for "The Cousin's Club." "Amnesty" by Nikelei was named first runner-up, while "Foggy Bottom" by Hoyt Hilsman was named second runner-up.
The award for best screenplay went to Amir Ohebsion, David Diaan and Babak Shokrian for "The Apology."
The Bawls Big C Best Game Audience Award went to "Scavenger Hunt" by Jackson Dunstan, Jonathan Bryant, Kevin Neece, Doug DaSilva, Eric Smith, Jemal Armstrong, Lolin Turner, Shane McIntire and Ryan Hammond. The Bawls Big C Best Game Jury Award went to "Revolved" by Alter Ego Games.
The festival reported a record audience of 20,000 attendees during the course of the festival, with 12,000 of them participating in the audience awards.
"We are delighted and thrilled that this year's festival has been so warmly received among the audience, be they industry, press or film enthusiasts," festival director Kathleen McInnis said. "They have supported us this year with their attendance and commitment to our filmmakers, and we couldn't be more honored."
The fest closed with a performance by Bernie Worrell and George Clinton at the closing party.
