The freaks are flooding to Coney Island -- the real freaks, that is.
For one weekend in May, at Sideshows by the Seashore, genuine "freaks of nature" will come together for a "Super Freak Weekend," according to the organization's press release.
"Each and every live performer on stage will be a genuine freak of nature rather than a working act (sword swallowing, fire eating) or a self-inflicted freak (heavily tattooed or pierced individuals)," the press release states.
Freaks featured at the event include Seal Boy, the bearded lady, and the Indian rubber boy. Koko the Killer Clown will be on hand to make balloon animals and entertain fans.
The freaky weekend will take place May 6 and 7, at Sideshows by the Seashore, 1208 Surf Ave. Coney Island, Brooklyn, with continuous shows between 12 and 8 p.m. Tickets cost $8. For info, call Dick D. Zigun at (718) 372-5159, or email info@coneyisland.com.
According to the press release, the weekend is shaping up to be the world's greatest assemblage of freaks, wonders, and human curiosities since P.T. Barnum's freak-star-studded funeral in 1897.
