A surreal and highly-stylized feature comedy is looking for lead actors in Austin, Texas.

Casting has begun for “Vessel of Grief,” a surreal dark comedy set in the 1850s that follows a trio of men tasked with executing the bizarre demands of a dead gunsmith’s will.

Nonunion talent, aged 18–80, is wanted to play three lead roles in the film: Frederic, a verbose preacher, Warren, a humble carpenter, and Savannah, a reclusive painter.

There is also a lead role available for a younger male actor, aged 12–25, to play Dario, a prodigious photographer.

“Vessel of Grief” will shoot in Austin, Texas, during the last two weeks of August. The four lead actors will be paid $200 per day.
