Hulu’s hit drama “The Handmaid’s Tale” is back. Season 5 debuts on Sept. 14 and is said to be even more dramatic than previous seasons. The American dystopian series, (starring Elizabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, and other big-name players) is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name. While the show isn’t currently casting, we decided to round up some similar gigs. From political dramas to other American dystopias, if you love “The Handmaid's Tale” then you should apply to these projects today.
“Revolt: Exodus - Parable 1”
Casting is underway for this new thrilling series. Production is looking for Black female talent, aged 18–21, to play the leading role, as well as Black female talent, aged 25–40, 18–20, and more for key supporting characters. While production dates are TBD, pay will be $1,500–$3,500 per day, depending on the role, for about 21 days of filming.

“Maxine”
Take a step back in time with this drama that’s set in the 1930s. The short film, which will be entirely shot in black and white, follows one woman, struggling to be a mother and have a career. The project is seeking white male talent, aged 35–50 and 50–65. Rehearses October 12–13, and films October 15–17, all in New York City. Pay ranges from $150–$200 per hour, depending on the role.

“Dross”
The coming-of-age psychological drama “Dross” is looking for leading and supporting talent. Following a teenage Asian-American boy stuck in an abusive, racist town and household, Tom must learn to stand up for himself if he’s going to make it out alive. Casting Asian male talent, aged 18–27, to play the lead. Skateboarding and snowboarding skills are preferable. Also searching for white talent, of any gender, aged 18 and older, for a variety of ensemble roles. Filming in Los Angeles, California is slated for the first two weeks of December. Pay ranges from $80–$800 depending on the role.

Join the cast of “2,” an independently produced new media series described as parts psychological thriller, classic tragedy, urban fantasy/sci-fi, and modern-day myth. Actors, aged 8–75, are wanted for various on-camera and voiceover roles, including the starring roles of Hope and Dowan. The project is also hiring several crew positions, including 1st and 2nd assistant directors, costume supervisors, and more. Rehearsals will take place in California and/or Nevada with the first season filming in early 2023 in Nevada. Pay is undisclosed by the production with travel, meals, lodging, and credit provided.
