“The Independent” Is Filming in New York City
We’ve got the scoop on the upcoming thriller “The Independent!” According to On Location Vacations, the film has started production in NYC and has been filming around 24th Street and 6th Avenue. The beginning of filming comes in tandem with the news that Ann Dowd has joined the cast of the journalism and political thriller. Jodie Turner-Smith, Brian Cox, and John Cena are already set to star. The film, “set during the final weeks of the most consequential presidential election in history…follows an idealistic young journalist (Turner-Smith) who teams up with her idol (Cox) to uncover a conspiracy that places the fate of the election, and the country, in their hands.” According to Deadline, Cena and Dowd will play opposing presidential candidates in the feature. Evan Parter wrote the script, and Amy Rice is directing. “The Independent” is due out in theaters in 2022. Eyde Belasco is the casting director.
