Rules for posting footage?
“Hey, random but I have footage from a production at an Equity theater I was in four years ago. It’s just a musical number, and again, it’s four years old. And it’s also from a dress rehearsal.
“I’d love to post it to my social media for a TBT post. Would I get in trouble with Equity or would the theater in question get fined, even years later? I’m not trying to monetize it or anything.” —SpikeMills
I’m an actor with a disability.
“I’m a disabled actor. I’m finding it really hard to find auditions that have disabled people in mind. There’s no place to put it on my profile, and I wouldn’t want to surprise a casting director. And right now, there are no auditions [explicitly] for disabled actors. What would people suggest?” —DeeSmithxox
Social media stars?
“Lately, I have been thinking of the social media trend. It is the wave of the future but am I overdoing it? Now, from a fan’s point of view, if I’m following someone on social media, do I really want to see them outside of that realm and more importantly, can I? Does it pigeonhole their creative ability to be whomever or whatever they want to be? And if they create an Instagram persona when can they post for ‘themselves’? I know it seems like question after question but this subject has been on my mind for some time now and entering the social atmosphere is delicate. I want to make the right choices, for my career and my personal life.
“To begin, some of us need the outlet and some of us crave it! The bottom line is being antisocial in a social media driven world can be more isolating than one can speak of, even if all you want is for some engagement, or for someone to give you a like and best of all follow you on your journey, while showing them the inner most aspects of your life. If you’re letting people into your homes and bedrooms, vacations, and family affairs, would casting hire you in the end? And hire you for who you are, I mean. What if they demanded you to be that person that you are on social media, and all you want is to be the medium for someone else’s life, because it is so much better than you own? Well, if you can answer some or one of these questions or comment, that would be great! But I think I’m really just blogging of some steam.” —DevonKeene
