The new Disney+ dramedy “Big Shot” is funny, endearing, empowering, and already a hit amongst viewers. The show follows a temperamental college basketball coach (played by John Stamos) who gets fired from his job, forcing him to take a teaching and coaching job at an elite all-girls private high school. Bringing life to one of the Sirens’ many gifted players, Destiny Winters, is actor Tiana Le. Le has also appeared on shows like HBO and Issa Rae’s “Insecure” and the Netflix series “No Good Nick.” She hopped onto our Instagram account to go live and answer questions about her advice for those just beginning their acting journey, working on “Big Shot,” and the trials of auditioning. View the whole on-camera takeover on our Instagram highlights, and catch the Q&A below!
What was your first-ever experience on set like?
My first set experience was “Insecure” on HBO, and that set honestly felt like such a huge family. I think that’s what made me love acting so much, because when you join a new set, it’s like you get this huge family immediately.
What are your tips to get into acting?
You know, I think that probably my biggest thing when I say anything about acting, it’s just that being genuine is really important. When you walk into an audition room or when you read your lines, it’s really important that you’re not trying to be something that you’re not.
What was your worst audition experience?
Probably the worst experience I had was I came out of an audition and I thought I didn’t deserve it. It’s not that you don’t deserve it, it’s just what is for you will be for you.
What is your favorite episode of “Big Shot”?
I believe it’s the last one. Not to be like, “You gotta watch all of ’em!” But you do, also. But the last one, for sure.
What was your favorite part of filming this show?
I think that my favorite part of filming the show was just how close I got to be with the girls, and you really see it on the screen. It’s amazing, our chemistry. And we worked really hard on it, and so I just can’t wait for everyone else to see it, too.
