Anxiety that I might be too late…
“I am an incoming third year nursing student but I’ve always wanted to study music/theatre arts. My family thought it wouldn’t give me a stable job when I graduated and they did not want that for me, especially since our family is not that fortunate financially. Pursuing a career in theater is still a dream of mine and I want to study music theater in the future while also working as a nurse to support my education. However, I have so many things to consider
“First, I’m not from U.S. and for me to move to New York, I would need to immigrate under a working visa. Second, studying theater would be another four years. Third, being a full-time nurse and studying theatre would take so much of my energy. I’m really scared to work as a nurse my whole life knowing that I will go home feeling unsatisfied. The only way that I will be happy and satisfied with my life is if I will pursue my dreams, no matter what. I’m scared that by the time I finish theater school, I might be too late.” —c3nidad
Video submissions and YouTube analytics?
“I’ve recently switched from sending auditions as Google drive files to unlisted YouTube links. The analytics are a blessing and a curse. I love being able to see that my video has been watched, but the watch time has only been about five–10 seconds. I’m hoping it’s just because they’re downloading the videos, but part of me thinks it’s just the virtual equivalent of being stopped after about four bars and being told ‘Thank you for coming out. We’ve heard all we need today.’ Does anyone have any insights on all of this? Because sending videos into the void is getting more and more disheartening.” —LainieSingsThings
Thoughts on private agent appointments at One on One NYC?
“I’d love to hear people’s thought (positive or negative) regarding seeking representation from One on One in NYC. I’m looking for new reps and I was considering using Talent Link, but I have been hearing some mixed reviews. I thought I would try One on One. Anyone had good luck with them? Thanks!” —rickyroad
